Most people in the US, when looking at me, tend to assume I'm Irish-extraction, to some degree or other. The red hair is the biggest reason for that.

Not so in the Philippines. In the past week I've been told that I look Belgian, from a nice Indian guy sitting next to me when we were getting our visa extensions, and Dutch from my adult class. This is apparently due to my facial structure. And probably something along the lines of everyone here in the Philippines assuming that I'm actually blonde, because anything lighter than straight black here is blonde hair. I keep saying they need to look at some of my facebook pictures of other members of YASC, there are some real blondes in that batch.

And on the subject of YASC discernment, may I say I am incredibly grateful to have had mine in Florida? This year's retreat was in New York where we went for training, and everyone ended up snowed out and delayed by a day even getting there. There are probably many YASC discerners wishing to go somewhere warm for a year.
