On improv comedy and Stargate
Stephanie took me out to see an improvisational comedy team tonight. It had some very funny moments, but the best line of all was the deliberate mistake of Toyota Highlander with Highlander, as in Duncan MacLeod of the clan MacLeod. Okay, it was funnier there than it is on paper, just accept it and move on.
Stargate was great tonight. Vala showed both her irrepressible fun side, as well as a more human side. When she told Daniel that this was the reason she didn't help anyone, because she was no good at it? I loved her. She's become real. And Daniel's theological debate with the Prior? Fun. Although, I'd be nervous about arguing religion with him. I also liked General Landry's interactions with Dr. Lam. It worked well, but did they already tell us than Landry was her father, or did I just guess it?
On one downside, when did Mitchell get sick? It didn't come off well, it had more poignancy when we were focusing on the villagers and Azdak, I didn't feel much when they focused on him. I still don't feel much from him. Here's hoping they show me something to connect with him.
Atlantis was also well done. There were times I was clapping and cheering for Elizabeth. She shows authority, and effortlessly controlled the situation. No wonder she's the leader of Atlantis. McKay was also great tonight. I seem to say that every night, don't I? And for a serial killer, the leader of the prisoners shows remarkable insight when it comes to McKay's personality. He does seem weak on the surface, but he will do what he needs to to protect his team. I think Ronan still scares him though.
