Well, I don't have physics until later today, but otherwise I've had all of my new classes this semester. Latin should go well, and at least this teacher doesn't seem like he's going to make me cry in class, which means he beats out my high school Latin teacher. Anatomy and Physiology should be relatively easy, the teacher said it was geared towards people who haven't taken college biology yet. I'm not sure how well I'm going to get along with her, she seems nice, but I wasn't connecting well with her.
And my Religion course this semester? Is going to rock. It's Images of Biblical Women in Art and History. So we get to explore where our concepts of these women come from, what's going on in the traditions about them, all sorts of cool stuff. So much fun. We spent part of the class doing a free association about Eve, and discussed a little about where some of our preconceptions came from. The only possible down point about this class is that for the first few class periods we're going to be loaded down with readings. Half of Da Vinci Code by Monday! And this is with four other classes.
Edited to add: I've had Physics. Really bad combination of a boring, rambly old teacher with a tough subject. I'm not looking forward to this.
And I got Photobucket to work, so I now have an icon. Cool, huh?
Okay, you can't see it unless you try to comment, or read something I've put behind a lj-cut, but still.

Date: 2005-08-25 11:01 pm (UTC)We're reading it in class because it has shaped this generation's perceptions of Mary Magdalene. At least it's better than when she was thought to be a whore.

Date: 2005-08-26 12:24 am (UTC)Have you read "Angels & Demons"? Personally, I liked it better than "DaVinci Code" although they were both very good. A&D was more surprising, though.
I forgot to say before that while I don't believe Jesus and Mary had any sort of romantic relationship, neither would it destroy my faith if they had. That's really not what's important.

I agree. In the culture Jesus grew up in, it was expected for him to marry. He was fully human, so I do see it as possible. Are we given any good evidence of it? Not to my knowlege. And His message, and what he did, is far more important to me than this whole controversy.

Date: 2005-08-26 10:10 am (UTC)And your icon is awesome! When I first saw it on my friends page I was all "Tiger!" Then: "Not tiger, just a cat."
"...KITTY! SCHROEDINGER!"
