Jul. 8th, 2006 02:55 pmI've mentioned previously that my little brother is working as staff at a boy scout camp this summer. This past week, he took some time off to go attend Procter, our diocese's church camp. This morning, my parents, Sara, and I went out there to pick him up.
Five steps out of the car, and I remembered why I missed that place so much. It's one of the few places around that automatically puts you at ease and where you feel welcomed and accepted as what you are. We attended the final service down at the chapel by the lake, and the service was so much fun. I also ran into a few old friends amoung the staff and campers.
That was the good news. The bad news was that, on the way over to Thomas' cabin to go grab his stuff, Thomas got a call on his cell. It seems that last night, over at the boy scout camp, a tree fell down on his tent. No one was in there at the time, and no one was injured, but his tent, cot, and table are totaled, and they're not sure how much of the rest of his stuff has been damaged. It wasn't exactly what he wanted to hear, coming out of such a good week at Procter. Luckily, he's going to get compensated, and they're going to pay him replacement value on anything that was destroyed, but it's really not the best thing to hear, no matter what.
In other news, I went back and added all of my stories to my memories. At the very least, it'll save me time when I'm going back to link in old chapters on new things.
