mari4212This is a bit of a "thank God" litany.
Thomas went down to boy scout camp today to assess the damage. The first bit of thank God was that there was much less damage than they initially thought. The tent, his cot, his cd holder, and a table were destroyed, but all of his electronics and his cd/dvd collection survived unscathed. He's much happier now that he knows his stuff is mostly okay.
The second, and more important pit of thank God came after we realized exactly what brought the tree down and looked at where the cot had been damaged. The tree fell because of dry rot, and it fell without any outside cause, which means it could have come down at any time. Scary, when you realize that 1/3 of the time, he's asleep inside his tent. And if he'd been on his cot when the tree had fallen, at the least he would have badly broken both legs.
So, A, Thomas is okay, and B, the harder-to-replace stuff is okay.
