I just had a simultanious yay and oh crud moment.

On the one hand, yay, because I've got a prompt for a DW ficathon that I've been stumped over, and I just had a story idea and the first scene pop into my head and I'm really enthusiastic about it.

On the other hand, oh crud. Because this story's going to be really pushing at the limits of what I can do as a writer, in terms of the plot and the structure. If it works, it'll be fantastic. If it doesn't work, it'll flop miserably.

Right, I might just end up going and grabbing that book on plot from the library. And doing some prewriting, figure out exactly what's going on and what the heck Mickey is doing there at that age in that time period.

And of course the actual story idea hit me ten minutes before I had to leave for class, so I was frantically typing the first scene before I ran out the door.

At least the story isn't due for a while, so I still have time to freak out and then write it.

Yay! Can't wait to see it. Because it is you, and therefore it will be fantastic and not "flop miserably".

And, yes, wow, some of my best (well, okay, oddest anyway) plot bunnies hit in the MIDDLE of class and it's extremely difficult to concentrate for the rest of the hour. And then people look at me oddly as I run back to the dorm muttering, "How old would he be? And why...no, that doesn't...agh, it doesn't!...oh, but what if..." Hehe. Being a crazy fanfic writer is FUN, isn't it? ;)

Plot bunnies are evil and want to attack us whenever we can't write them down. Mine like to attack just after I've turned off all the lights and gone to bed, so if I want to write them I have to get up and turn the computer back on.

Oh, and I know what you mean about the odd looks. It's a good thing I don't have a roommate, I don't want to know what she'd have thought of me grabbing my wool skirt out of a drawer and rubbing my face against it so that I could get a tactile detail right for the scene.

But it is so much fun. And a total rush to get that one comment that shows that someone actually paid attention to the story while they were reading it.

Oh, yes, I had one of those once. Awfully annoying, them.

Heee! That's AWESOME! Yeah, the complicated hand motions and/or scene blocking that I do can be rather...strange-looking...but of course it's that attention to detail that makes people like us!

Oh, YES, definitely. Especially the ones that mention that obscure emotion/point you were trying to get across and weren't sure people would catch.
