It was a simple request, turn him off when they left sickbay, and yet they always forgot.
It wasn’t the boredom that got to him. He at least had access to the ship’s databases, and he’d discovered a cache of fictional datafiles to read during the long hours.
But Sickbay seemed so echoingly vast when it was empty. With no others present, the darkened corners receded and the shadowy space emphasized his lonely state. There was no escape, no way out to places of light and warmth and people.
