Yeesh, I forgot to update yesterday.

Yesterday was my heavy science day. I had Physics class first thing in the morning, and I went straight from there to my Anatomy lab. Anatomy is still ridiculously easy, but I've decided that I'm just going to be pleased that I don't really have to study for one class. Then I had a two hour break, where I had lunch and sat down for a while, before I headed off to my Physics lab. That one was actually fun, we got to shoot a little ball out of a spring gun, and then do lots of calculations to determine where it would go after we changed the angle. We were off by a few inches, but everyone in the group did the calculations independently, and we all reached the same conclusion. Sigh. At least we hit the paper target, even if it wasn't exactly in the perfect score range.

And I had my first Circle K meeting yesterday! For those who don't know, Circle K is a college age community service organization, sponsored by Kiwanis Organization. We're already planning out some service projects, and one will be to raise things for the children affected by Katrina. Finally something I can do to actually help. We're also making tenative plans to volunteer at a rape/domestic abuse shelter, in conjunction with the women's awareness group on campus. Besides all these plans, I also got to interact with people I haven't seen in a while. It was fun, and a great way to end a day that was pretty tiring.

Today was a lot more relaxed. For one, no Physics! It's my only day of the school week without Physics class, and I'm going to rejoice. Latin was cool, we talked a little about Roman names. Part of it makes be glad I am not Roman, as each daughter is named from the family name. If you have multiple daughters, their official names are the family name plus a number, indicating birth order. Unoffically, they all got nicknames, but I'm still glad we don't do this in modern terms. I like my last name, but I don't want to be known as it plus the number three.

I didn't have Religion today, as my teacher was lecturing for World Cultures all day. On the one hand, I love religion class, so I kind of missed it, but on the other hand, I liked being able to just sit down and not have to be anywhere for a few hours.

Women's Chorus and church choir are still fun, but exhausting when you do one after another. And my ride and I have worked out a time when she promises to be there to pick me up, so I should be able to get to church on Sunday.

How have your days gone?

Wow, you are so busy! At least you got a bit of a break today, although it's always a bummer when that break comes at the expense of one of your better classes...

Anatomy is still ridiculously easy, but I've decided that I'm just going to be pleased that I don't really have to study for one class.

Know that feeling! I took "regular" (as opposed to AP) physics and chemistry, just because I needed a period off. (Well, not "just because", but that was a significant part of it!) Tune out, turn in, don't drop out. Or something.

My day's been pretty good, thanks. :D

It turns into this kind of hurry up and wait, I'm busy beyond belief for a few hours, and then I get to sit down and I can relax to the point of getting bored.

Glad your day went well.

Dad here

Don't sweat the physics, especially if you were a few inches short on where the ball would land. Physics generally gets more complicated with time. You probably solved for the tine when the ball would reach an elevation of zero, when it would rise at a constant rate (determined by the initial speed and launch angle) and fall at an accelerating rate (due to gravity). From that time, you could solve for distance from the launcher. For a heavy ball, that works fine, but for a lighter ball, you have to factor in friction, which is too complicated for a first experiment. An answer that's off by only a few inches is not too bad.

I'm not going to worry about it that much. The teacher did give us a number to modify our calculated velocity by, that was probably the friction issue. And hey, we hit the paper, that works for me.
