Huh. You know, the first thing that popped into my mind for that line was that it would work so well as a John fic. Because I'm pretty sure that the day Dean stopped thinking he could save Sam is the day that Dean starts planning out how they can go out with a suicide by monster. And I'm not sure I want to kill off both Dean and Sam my second fic into the fandom.
