Interests meme
Sep. 15th, 2005 07:30 pmI'm stealing this one from
wisdomeagle, as it is fun.
Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have less than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between 50 and 75 interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over 75 interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much:
1. Atlantis. Because this is a show that makes me go squeeful at the drop of a hat? I'm a longterm fan of Stargate, so when the spinoff was announced I thought I would give it a try. And I fell happily in love with the characters, with the episodes, with the whole feel of the show. As anyone watching my livejournal can probably tell, considering how much I write about Atlantis. Besides, Rodney McKay. Need I say more?
2. Christianity. Because I am a Christian, because that is a huge part of what makes me who I am. My faith is very important to me, and I do try to live it out.
3. Dragons. Because they're cool and breath fire and I fell in love with Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern books back in fourth grade when I discovered sci-fi and fantasy beyond the children's section.
4. Fanfic. Seriously, the only reason I learned to use a computer was because I heard there were stories online about my favorite shows. I read too fast, if I didn't read fanfic I would never have anything to read. As it is, even with fanfic and the internet I go through three novels a week. And on a personal level, I love being able to explore the what ifs, to expand a scene, to understand what a character was going through. And sometimes, I just need fluff to turn my brain off when I'm upset, and fanfic gives me that in large quantities. My only problem with fanfic is that large amounts of it are so poorly written, which is why I find good writers and latch onto them and their work.
5. Giving casual massages. Okay, the phrasing of that interest comes from
hermionesviolin, but since I've been giving backrubs since I was eight years old and had not even heard of the internet, the idea behind it was original to me. I love making people feel better, and this is one of the best ways to do it. This is also part of what inspired my choice of major, PT. If you want to know some of the more amusing incidents regarding my giving backrubs, talk to my dad, he's the one who tells them well, and he'd appreciate an audience that hasn't heard it five thousand times before.
6. Madeline L'Engle. One of my favorite authors. Beautiful, fantastical prose, wonderful ideas, and characters you can identify with. Best known for the Wrinkle in Time trilogy, but I love her Vicky Austin books as well, especially A Ring of Endless Light and Troubling a Star. Go, read, and enjoy muchly.
7. Minerva McGonagall. One of my favorite characters in Harry Potter, she's steadfastly moral, loyal, and intelligent. She's strict but fair, and I know she'll do what's right for her students.
8. Personality. I like knowing how people work. I like knowing how I work, and personality typing is a way to approach that. Mainly, it's fascinating, especially when you do a test and it really describes who you are and what you stand for.
9. Religion. See what I said about Christianity. I want to see how people see the divine, why they feel the way they do, and how it shapes the way they see the world. I know my beliefs, and they are an integral part of myself. Plus, it's just so cool and interesting, and why wouldn't anyone be interested in religion?
10. Space. Because I got into sci-fi before I could remember, and because space has always been able to give me that "oh wow" reaction when I think about it.
11. Willow/Giles. Semi-unconventional ship, but I like the characters and they mesh well. Plus, they can geek out over books together.
