(no subject)
Sep. 30th, 2005 04:57 pmMedieval society decided that to get some attention on campus, we actually had to be visible. So we've instituted Garb days on Fridays. I am sitting here typing in an eight point skirt, peasant shirt, and bodice. The irony of wearing medieval clothing while using technology that would have astounded/scared most of the general population of that time period is not lost on me.
In other Medieval society news, I'm dragging seven other people home with me on Fall Break. I happen to live near the Ohio Ren faire, and they all wanted to attend. Mom and Dad said they couldn't see forcing them to spend money on a hotel when they could stay with us, so they're coming along. Should be fun.
My sorting for
sorting_elite is going well. Currently I believe the votes stand as follows:
Hufflepuff is in the lead, with 60 votes.
Gryffindor is next, with 25 votes.
Ravenclaw has 10 votes to its name.
And 6 people think I should be squibbed.
I'm feeling pretty good about this. To be honest, I was expecting more Ravenclaw votes, and a few less Gryffindor. Mostly, I'm just glad that at this rate, I'm most likely in the community, and in a house that I can be comfortable in.
I suppose I should mention classes, shouldn't I? Latin is still going well, and we got to watch a scene from Life of Brian. I have yet to be able to see that whole movie(it's on my to-watch list, along with about twenty others), and I liked what I have seen.
Physics is still Physics. It'll never be my favorite subject. (My McKay clone is currently shooting me death glares for daring to say that. I'm going to need to make him more cookies, and possibly more coffee ice cream to make up for not liking his favorite subject.)
Anatomy is getting better. It's actually a class that I don't attend much, but I can keep up with the book work when we're doing a biology review, and I'm frustrated if I try to sit through it. The teacher is nice, but she's not that good of a teacher.
Religion is still happifying. Our last class was a presentation on the way that Sunday morning classes in church influence our ideas of Biblical women and the stories involved. And now I am very glad to have had Sunday School teachers who wanted me to think. I was challenged to learn, to study the Bible, to question assumptions. I am disheartened to realize that isn't always the case.
Also, I am considering switching out one of my icons. Is there one that you absolutely want me to keep?
