I should be updating with what happened this weekend, but [livejournal.com profile] lady_tigerfish tagged me with this meme, and I'm inspired. So here it is, twenty random facts you didn't know about me.

1. Unless I am running late for something really important, I will stop and stare at every butterfly I see. There is just so much joy and innocence in their flight, and it always makes me breathless with wonder.
2. One of my first really clear memories is from when I was five years old and my family went to the Christ Church Spaghetti Supper the day before Thanksgiving. It was our first time there, and I spent most of the time near my Dad. The only people I hugged were people with names from our family, basically men named Thomas (or a derivative of it), Mike, or John. At the time, that was still half of the men in the church.
3. I couldn't read at all until second grade. Then I got glasses, and I discovered books a week later. I'm still a bookworm.
4. Second grade was the most miserable year of my life. I got teased on the playground, the rest of the class decided to ostracize me, I hated it. It didn't help that at the begining of the year, my teacher had mislabeled everything with my sister's name, and so I spent a while staring at things marked "Elizabeth".
5. However, third grade was wonderful, and it was the year that I fell in love with school as far as it came to learning. It was also the year I got interested in religion.
6. I got introduced to Fantasy in fourth grade, when I came to my mother and said that I was bored with rereading my books. She handed me Piers Anthony and Anne McCaffery.
7. I have no idea why I started giving backrubs, or where I got the idea from, it just happened the summer after second grade.
8. I never got teased in school after second grade. Never. Or at least, not where I heard any of it.
9. I get embarrassed when Dad starts telling stories about me, but secretly I like the fact that he's so proud of me.
10. When I dance, I feel like the music is part of me, that I am just expressing it, rather than actively controlling myself. Dancing is sheer joy expressed.
11. Bubbles are a mystery of the universe, and a very good one at that.
12. I have never had a serious romantic relationship. This is continuing the grand tradition of my family, but it is sometimes annoying.
13. Amusingly, I am often called on to give romantic advice.
14. I did not discover my favorite color or favorite author until I went to college.
15. But I have known that my least favorite color was orange all of my life.
16. I have tremendous stage fright, but I had no qualms about reciting lines from a movie and acting them out with friends while waiting for a concert to start.
17. My first word is lost to the sands of time, but according to my mother one of my first phrases was "Go f'walk", which meant that she and I needed to go take a walk together.
18. I only learned to use a computer because I saw some fanfic that my sister hand printed out to read and I had read all of the books I liked at the library five times over.
19. I have no competitive drive. This is why I don't really understand sports on an emotional level. I want to succeed, I want to achieve my goals, but if I do well, I don't care if I come in first or last.
20. I have imaginary conversations with people from whatever show or book or movie I am currently reading/thinking of.

Anyone on my flist who wants to do this, go ahead. I'd certainly enjoy reading it.
