Hufflepuff won the house cup!

ETA Okay, I lied. Hufflepuff came in second. There was a contest not counted, and it pushed Ravenclaw into the lead.

And there's more, I tied for third place for my essay!

And since I promised I'd put it up here after voting was done, here you go.

Essay! )

I didn't win with my song, but I'm proud of it, which is what counts, right?

my song )

It's set in the third book, Remus reflecting over Sirius before he learns about Pettigrew's betrayal.

In other news, I'm still feeling a little sick, but I need to make it in to my classes today.

I have finished Grandmommy's lap blanket! It's pretty and soft and I'll have to remember to bring it back with me for Thanksgiving so that it stays safe. And then I'll have to have Mom take custody of it immediately or it will end up given to Grandmommy a month in advance. I want to give it to her now, as it's so pretty.

Oh well, on to my next knitting project, making scarves for my fellow Hufflepuffs in the college club. Hopefully I can get at least mine done by opening night, maybe even two or three if I really plug away at it.

This week's anatomy lab test went better than the previous one did, as in I'm pretty sure I passed it. And hey, this means we don't go back into the cadaver lab again, which means I won't end up dizzing out midway through the lab session anymore.

Physics lab went well, and my partner and I even finished early for once, which is always to be appreciated. I didn't make it into class, but that was the one thing I could afford to miss today, so I chose to miss that rather than force myself to attend class and then be non-functional during my anatomy test.

I managed to get myself pre-registered and have the data even stay in place after I finished, which is a first. Honestly, if a school's going to have a website to pre-register at, at the very least they could stand to explain what the different commands are and how to set the darned thing up so that you don't spend too much time redoing the whole thing. It's going to be very science intensive, three of my classes are science courses with attached labs. I am going to see if I can do pass/fail in Physics, because otherwise it is going to bring down my GPA. And this'll be the first semester I won't have a religion course, which is just sad.

And now for the good news. Number one, I had an iced mocha yesterday, and it was good. Discussing fertility rites in The Red Tent, the book I was reading for my religion class while I was drinking the iced mocha was also good, if slightly embarassing at times. And then we got into discussing gender roles, ancient and modern, and where the text drew from to create the characters and situations it did.

And afterwards, I discovered where the fiction on campus is stored. There's this multimedia center in Graves, and I checked it out yesterday. I was almost in tears at the sight of those books and authors. Madeline L'Engle, the Chronicles of Narnia, Patricia C. Wrede, The Very Hungry Catipilar! Dear Lord, how I missed some of these writers.
