Of course they were drawn right to the sad stranger -- blood singing to blood. And of course he found himself with a can of Dean's beer and an invitation to his supper table -- Dean's kindness is obviously a constant across at least one other thread of the quantum string.
Perfect to tell the story through John's point of view, a *normal* John the boys would have so dearly loved to have had for their father. Dean got to be a child in this Kansas, though Sammy didn't quite get to *be*, although John received the blessing of knowing this young man was in some way his own lost child and his brother waited for him on the other side of the rift.
A million bonus points for the fabulous Missouri.
