Okay, does someone on my flist wear contacts?

Please tell me eventually you get used to putting the stupid things in. As is, they're doing a wonderful job of helping me get my bp up into normal ranges for anyone else (ie, far higher than my normal.)

Also, I now feel like a weeble. My center of balance is off with these things in, because my eyes aren't used to being corrected in this way. And my face looks funny. It's been about 14 years since I started wearing glasses, my entire conception of how I should look includes them.

*waves at you*

You do get used to putting them in. Admittedly, I never had much issue in the first place, but it becomes easier.

Hee. And that is exactly how I feel wearing glasses.

What made you decide to try them?

Contacts!Margaret....fun! :) I had issues with my contacts at first, too, but have since gotten used to them. I think it took a week or so? Maybe less. I got used to my face looking different, too. I also love being able to wear sunglasses that aren't "specially made."

*loves you*

I'm very used to putting them in now. I still need to look in a mirror, but they go in very easily. It's a steep learning curve, but you'll soon get the hang of it and it won't be a problem at all. Anyway, I sincerely doubt you'd be worse than me during my first time. It took me half an hour to get one contact in - and that was actually the easy part. I spent 3 hours+ trying to get the other one in!!! Which was totally awkward, having perfect eyesight in one eye and struggling to stuff the other contact in.

I love contacts though, I can't imagine my life without them. :) So IMO, it's totally worth it!

Did you always stink at the glaucoma test, where they do the puff of air? Takes me almost 10 minutes before I can relax enough to have air shoved into my eye, that's one of the reasons why I never went for contacts.
But like everything, you'll get used to them, or so my friends say. Regardless, I demand pictures *smile*

You get used to it. It used to take me a good half hour before I got the hang of it, and always with a mirror; one of my friends can pop them in without looking at her eye, but I've never managed it. And it always takes me a little while to adjust to seeing with contacts vs glasses, especially if I don't wear my contacts daily.

Heh. I only wear my glasses for driving (my prescription is laughable, and only for one eye), and I feel like I have tunnel vision with them on because I suddenly have this border in my peripheral vision. I'm sure you'll get used to the contacts, though.

That's so wild! I just got contacts (well, a contact) as well, and I'm still getting used to it. The world looks pretty different with it in. Not as flat, for one thing. Yes, you do get more used to them. My first week, I was ready to go back and say forget this whole contact thing, give me glasses. Now I can almost always get it in on the first try. Good luck with yours! I hope they help!

My brother got contacts, and the first day, it took him hours to get them in. He puts them in like a pro now. He says they get much easier, just give yourself some time so you can relax for the first few days or so and it will get better.

We're trying to see if it'll improve my peripheral vision to any extent, to see if that'll help me pass the eyesight test for driving.

As I can't actually get the stupid things in on my own yet, it's hard to tell.

Ah. The glasses aren't good enough for that?

As I can't actually get the stupid things in on my own yet, it's hard to tell.

What's the bit that you're finding the hardest?
