*points up at subject line*

Guess what I did today? I went shopping at Goodwill with the rest of the costuming club, and I got my Hufflepuff outfit in one fell swoop. I got a black knee-length skirt, I already had a shirt, and there was a gold tie. Okay, the tie had blue stripes, but a bit of sharpie marker dealt with that. I tried it all on, and I looked like a Hufflepuff! *grins madly*

I also got this beautiful charcoal grey shirt. It's got one of those Mandarin collars, and it's sort of a tunic, as it reaches down to mid thigh. It's really pretty and silky.

I love shopping at Goodwill, you can get all of this for under ten dollars.

In other news, I have started the second skein of yarn on Grandmommy's blanket. I'm still getting random compliments from strangers on it, which makes me feel good.

And Hogsmeade continues apace. I might write one of the essays, I have an outline of it at least, but that'll wait till Sunday. Of the events I've done today, I'm proudest of the song I wrote for the Head Girl contest #1. What we had to do was rewrite the lyrics to one of the songs the head girl had chosen. I did "Moon Over Bourbon Street". It's totally different from anything I've ever written before, and right now I'm not sure if that's bad or good. I just know that that was the song that needed to be written with that prompt. Maybe after the contest is over, if anybody wants to see it, I'll post it.

COOL! I would definitely go for a Hogwarts uniform -- from any house, really, since I'm not in any one particular. Is it for your Quidditch Club Halloween thing?

Quidditch Club in general. We're also planning on going in costume to the first showing of the fourth movie.

Oh, that rocks! I envy you.

You've inspired me, though. I've decided to be Harry for Halloween (mostly because I've been trying to find a costume into which I can incorporate my glasses, because it's a hassle trying to do stuff when you can't see.) Perhaps I can save the costume and go to the movie like that, too...hmm...

Go for black dress slacks, a white button-down shirt, and a burgundy tie, preferably with gold stripes. If you can find robes and a sweatervest, you'll have it made.

Ooh, that's great. Thanks! I may have to make do with some of it, but that's a wonderful start.

Goodwill is your friend here.

As for robes, there are some very simple patterns available. If nothing else, get a bathrobe pattern and make it with a black fabric. And I know you can get house crests online, and there may also be some at Hot Topic, I heard someone mention something about that.

Great suggestions!

My biggest problem is that this Halloween party is on Wednesday. I hadn't thought I was going to dress up, so that's why I'm getting on it so late. I have a couple of ideas though, which involve borrowing a few of my dad's clothes ;), and I think it'll turn out all right. If not, oh well.

Ah, then skip the robes, but remember to mark your forehead and have a wand and you'll be fine.

Yep, I figured that's all the lay-person really needs for ID anyway, right? ;)

My mom made me the coolest wand last year, for when I was Snape, and I've kept that. Amazing what you can do with fondue skewers and some paper!
