So, about that updating more often thingie? Not really happening. I'm going to continue blaming it on work, I come home and the last thing I want to do is communicate more.
On the other hand, work is steadily improving. I had one student, tutoring him was like running brain-first into a brick wall, only more painful. He apparently turned a corner over winter break, and came back willing to work with me a lot more. So hurrah for that. Plus, it turns out he really likes being able to beat me at basketball, his favorite reward when we finish his work for the session. Since I happen to suck at basketball, it's really easy for him to win.
Plus, I have a student that I just figured out a way to assign Alice in Wonderland fanfic as part of her tutoring work with me. I count that as an epic win. Between her and one other student who is reading Harry Potter with me as part of his tutoring work, it's kind of a fannish workday when I have both of them scheduled.
Dad is feeling better, and is currently sailing through chemo. This past week he was actually up and moving around most of the day, instead of holding down the couch or his bed. Good timing, too, as all of the rest of the family got hit with a stomach flu this week/weekend, including me. I spent MLK day holding down the bed and trying to keep my gingerale down.
My birthday came and went without much fuss, which is really my preference. Elizabeth and I are still planning our mutual birthday celebration for this coming Saturday, down at the Pub. (yes,heylittleriver, where we took you while you were here. The food is still really good.
And that's pretty much my life right now. When I'm not at work, I'm either at home or I'm relaxing and turning my brain off. On the plus side, it's no longer super stressful, and I even find myself enjoying it a lot. And hey, with all the basketball I'm playing these days, I'm even getting my exercise in.
