grading tests is always interesting
Oct. 12th, 2013 01:12 amDid you know that Jesus knew about the different brands of Filipino breads over 2000 years ago, and helpfully warned us that we could not serve both God and that brand of bread at the same time? This should be news to everyone working for that company.
Or that the beatitudes included the line about blessed are the wicked, they will be called children of God?
I don't know what to think about the fact that the 7th Commandment is thou shall commit adultery, though at least the student who said that did not also define adultery as rape or child molestation.
And while I appreciate the compliment, “Ma'am you are very pretty and I will study more next time, I'm sorry.” doesn't get any bonus points on the test.
I'm rather glad I opted to grade the fourth year class, I don't even want to know how many of my students still think that Moses got the 10 commandments from the top of Mount Olympus. Because Zeus, grand high poobah of cheating on his wife, is really going to have anything negative to say about adultery.
Also, it is disturbing how incestuous Abraham's family turned out to be. I certainly wasn't aware that he'd married his great-granddaughter Dinah, or that Jacob was making time with his grandmother, Sarah. This officially makes Game of Thrones less torrid than Genesis. You know, I give the students access to the real sex scandals of the Bible, like Tamar and Rahab, and yet they're still not satisfied and have to make Abraham's family tree into even more of a totem pole than it already was?
Needless to say, this is also not going up on the official blog.
