Wild Nights are my glory...

Boy, I'm spamming tonight. But really, I had to share this.

The weather here has been extraordinarily lovely of late. Warm days, comfortable nights. Tonight was no exception, but in addition to the comfortable temperature, it was also windy. I've been listening to it outside my window all afternoon and evening, and it finally tempted me to go outside. I pulled on my cloak (cloaks were designed for weather like this, it billowed like no tomorrow), and headed out.

I thought I would just stand outside for a few moments, relax into the wind. Before I knew it, I was headed out to the front oval, to the magnificent tree out front. (Yes Mom, that tree.) Undeneath it was a girl that I've talked to alot this semester, but never really connected to that much. But tonight was different. We climbed up one of the branches, and just sat there talking and exulting in the night and in the wind. Then we climbed down and walked on the grass, even spun around in circles. It was wonderful, and something we both desperately needed. Strange how much I've been connecting with people today. First the geeky guy, and now this girl.

Today has been a good day.

ETA Okay, so I woke up this morning to my parents calling, wanting to know if I was okay after the tornado passed by. Tornado? Now I'm really glad I went outside when I did, I got the wind but not the storm. I slept through the storm bit, but apparently it did a lot of damage to other places.

(and points for whoever is the first one to tell me where I got my subject heading from. Okay, it's not stormy tonight, but the quote fits anyway.)

It's from "A Wrinkle in Time." The first of the "witches" that Meg meets says it.

Bingo!

Ha, that made my day...Mrs. Whatsit on LJ; gotta love it. Makes me want to go read AWiT again.

Glad you're safe, too. Wind, good; tornado, bad.

I'm glad my random quotes can make you happy.

Yeah, and this was a bad one. Seventeen dead as far as I know, and three of them were people affiliated with my church, so we heard about them during the service.

I heard about the tornado this morning and thoughts immediately turned to you. I am glad to hear that you're alright, and having such wonderful times with people! That sounded like a truly lovely, unique evening ^_^

The evening was wonderful. And then when I made it into church everyone was talking about the damage from the tornado. A family that is affiliated with our parrish lost three people. We included them into our All Saints litany.

Oh, yay, you're all right. *hugs tight* They had it on the news this morning and it made me fret. Had no mention of your uni though, and I knew they'd mention it if it was hit, so not that badly. Still, glad you're safe.

And that's wonderful that you manage to connect with that girl. Plus twirling in the wind!

I'm fine. Other people? Not so much. But yes, I was safe and slept through it.

And I am deeply grateful for that connection.

I'm glad your fine. I'mr eally sorry about the other people though. Best thoughts to their families.

It did a lot of damage and killed several people, but no one I knew personally. But yes, my prayers go with them.

Hi, I wandered over from [livejournal.com profile] longhair because I'm bored and procrastinating from studying for an exam. *grins* I had to comment when I read your subject line -- I'm re-reading A Wrinkle in Time for the first time in seven years (read it a couple times when I was a kid/adolescent and loved it; can't think why I've ignored it all these years). In many ways, reading it again feels like coming home. Nothing beats Madeleine L'Engle.

May I friend you?

Go right ahead. *friends you back* And I agree, Madeleine L'Engle is wonderful.

Cool!
