Today was a nice day. The cold front moved in overnight, and today was cool and comfortable. I don't think we hit eighty degrees.

The kids were not exactly pleased about being here today. Josie had been away on vacation all week, and didn't want to let go of her mom. Actually, after she did the transition, she was rather well behaved. Riley started out well, but got worse as the day progressed. And Audrey had a meltdown. She had been out of town all weekend, and she was over stimulated, tired, and refused to take a nap. Mom eventually just put her up and ignored the crying until she fell asleep. Then she slept for two hours.

But I didn't spend the afternoon with the kids. Stephanie picked me up, and we met up with Chris for ice cream and conversation. It was the last afternoon we have to spend with each other, because she was heading out for a week with her friends at a con of some sort I believe. I head back to college on the twenty-first, and she doesn't come back until the twenty-third. We talked, giggled, and she insisted on taking some film of Chris and I. Of course, I'm the only person in the group with no acting experience. Chris decided to take the lead, by tilting the chair we were on back until it almost fell over several times. At first I was nervous, but I relaxed after that, and couldn't stop giggling. This was not helped by him looking at the camera and saying things like, "You see that, that was real fear. This is reality tv." Then he tried to get me angry by calling me by a nickname. I don't tend to like nicknames that much, and none of the ones for my name suit me at all. I of course promptly retaliated by fuzzing his hair. I might be nice, but not that nice. This of course, lead to even more giggling.

Stephanie had to leave to catch her plane at five, and Chris offered to take me home. We planned on dropping by Ace, where my sister works. Chris was Elizabeth's best friend in high school, and he hadn't seen her for a while. Of course, what neither one of us took into account was that neither one of us knew the way to Ace from Stephanie's house. We ended up completely lost, and I needed to get home so that I could get picked up to go baby-sitting. I called up Mom, and it only took a few minutes to get us sorted out.

I got home, turned around, and headed straight back out to go babysit for the Geises. Those kids are wonderful. We had dinner, and played, and watched Veggietales, and then they went to bed. I grabbed Liz's copy of Mere Christianity, since I hadn't had time to grab a book to read. It's amazing to see how much of what he talked about is still so relevant, and so well phrased. I don't agree with all he says, but most of the things I disagree with are based on the differences between cultural mores of my generation and his.
