So this meme's making the rounds again, and I'm up to asking questions again. Maybe it's just been long enough that I forget how evil it was thinking up questions for people.

The Rules:
1. Comment to this entry saying do me.
2. I will ask you five questions.
3. Post your answers in your journal.
4. If I do this for you, you get to do this for others.

My questions from [livejournal.com profile] moosewizard
1. Do you believe in ghosts? Or other paranormal phenomenon?

I have seen no conclusive proof one way or another, so I'm largely skeptical. If someone offers me what I consider definitive proof, I'll be willing to accept it.

2. Where's your favorite vacation spot?

I'm actually a huge homebody, so if you're asking me where I'd go if I wanted to relax, I'd say right here at home, just with fewer distractions. If you're talking about places I've visited, I'd say Colonial Williamsburg. I'm enough of a history buff to love something like that.

3. What's your favorite website?

Hmm. I really don't tend to think in terms of favorites like this. And my liking of websites tends to be in direct proportion to their utitlity to me in accomplishing my goals or entertaining me. I think it's a bit of a cop-out answer, but I'd have to say livejournal is my favorite website, simply because with livejournal I'm connected to large portions of my friends and there's always something interesting going on with them.

4. Have you ever broken a bone?

Not yet, and I'm hoping to avoid it if at all possible. Pain and I do not get along.

5. Have you met a celebrity, who and where?

I gave a backrub to a nobel peace prize winner, does that count? Archbishop Desmond Tutu, when I was about eight. If you want more details, I'll pull up my dad's story about it. He tells it much better than I do.

You gave a backrub to Desmond Tutu? I definetely want more details! How did you even get to meet him? Do you remember what he was like?

I still haven't answered the questions from people from last round. ::fails:: (I'm horrible at coming up with questions for people. As I recall, the ones you gave me were quite good.)

[correct coding is lj user not lj-user; and your opening bracket for the #4 bold tag is reversed; oh and it's spelled "definitive"]

I'm curious about your skepticism about the paranormal since you're a Christian and in our previous conversation you said Lewis' logic leaps in his apologetics don't bother you much because you're used to making those same leaps yourself.

I did this meme a long time ago, but hey, ask me questions anyways ;)

Thanks for the edits, this is what I get for typing with small children underfoot.

I guess I make a distinction between my religious opinions and my opinions on things like ghosts. There's also the fact that I have encountered what I believe to be subjective proof of God in my own life, but I have not experienced any proof whatsoever of ghosts. I keep an open mind about ghosts because I haven't seen any real arguments that completely disprove them either.

*waits patiently for you to actually answer those questions*

Here's the link to Dad's story: http://mari4212.livejournal.com/30337.html?thread=152961#t152961

As for my personal memories, I remember thinking that he looked a bit tired and I wanted to make him feel better, and that I thought he was very nice. And at the end of the service he processed out with our priest and the bishop, and he gave the blessing in his native language, which I thought was strange but fun at the time.

1. If you could demand that everyone in America be taught one thing, what would it be?
2. If you were going to spend an afternoon talking to any character from any of your fandoms, who would it be and what would you talk about?
3. What is one thing you wish people would do for you when you're upset?
4. What song, if there is one, do you think really reflects your ideals or worldviews?
5. What is one of your impossible dreams?

1.
I AM YOUR GOD!

Only joking. That banana's do not grow on trees. Seriously. They don't.

2.
Sam Carter, SG-1 and we would spend the day getting over excited about geeky things like partical physics, and she'd teach me more about physics and I would force biology knowledge on her.

3.
Don't let me comfort eat.

4.
I wish I was a girl by Counting Crows. Even thought I am a girl...

5.
To have MAGICAL POWERS! Or to be a superhero. I just want something to make me special that's less then oridinary :p

Okay, okay, how about Nirtii? But the problem is that Apophis is the one who said it the most. Nirtii spent most of her time coming up with cool new techie toys.

That is an absolutely beautiful story. I saw Desmond Tutu speak a few years ago, and I'm very glad of the experience.

The more I've learned about him, the more I respect him. Of course, it took me a while, until I'd actually overheard my dad telling the story, to figure out that he was someone who was well known.

And smart, she's about the only Goa'uld who actually innovates.

Nice icon. Actually, considering that I was coming from Voyager, any rendition of a romance seemed better than what they did.

2. Is it better to be loved for what you aren't, or hated for what you are?
3. What's your favorite cookie?
4. When you're upset, what do you want people to do for you?
5. Books or movies? Which format do you prefer to entertain yourself with?

I was wondering if someone would catch that intepretation of those words.

1. If you could have a discussion with any three people in all of human history, who would they be and why?
2. Similarly, if you could spend an afternoon doing anything with any character from one of your fandoms, who would it be and what would you do?
3. Of the Chronicles of Narnia, which is your favorite book?
4. What is one of your impossible dreams?
5. What is your favorite kind of cookie? (ammunition if I ever need to bribe you with something, I bake excellent cookies)

I'm having flashbacks to our pms at the board. What questions didn't we ask each other there?

1. This seems to be a common one for me this time, but what is your favorite type of cookie?
2. What is your favorite comfort read?
3. Irresistable force meets unmoveable object, which gives?
4. What is the thing you are most looking forward to about college?
5. Which is better, to be loved for what you aren't or hated for what you are?

3. Name one of your impossible dreams.
4. What is your favorite comfort read?
5. What is your opinion of Obi-Wan Kenobi?
