ljmckay, who requested a sad prompt, Ron at Harry's funeral

Title: Disconnect
Characters: Ron Weasley
Rating: PG
It doesn’t seem right, you know?
I had all these plans for the future, seems stupid now. We were in the middle of a war, what was I doing dreaming about something later?
But anyway, in those dreams you were always there. You were my best friend, it doesn’t seem right to imagine a future without you.
You’d have hated this anyway. You never wanted all this attention and bother, and you certainly didn’t want it out of them, not when they’d abandoned you so many times.
But McGonagall said you could be buried here, at Hogwarts, next to Dumbledore. We all thought you’d appreciate that.
Hermione and Ginny haven’t stopped crying since they found out. Mum’s just as bad about it, but she tries to put on a good face for the rest of us. Girls, what can you do?
Me? I don’t know. It still doesn’t seem real. I mean, there was You-Know-Who, oh, alright, if you insist, Voldemort, lying dead. And you just tossed me this shaky grin, like you’d just dropped all your burdens and couldn’t believe how light you were when they were gone, and then you collapsed. It’s not right. You sacrificed everything for us, for the rest of the Wizarding World, and yet you’re dead, and you deserved this joy more than anyone else does.
I still can’t believe you’re gone, Harry.
