I've been playing catch-up with my journal again. Yesterday I was just so tired I walked into the house, down to my room, and passed out on my bed.

So, what had me so tired?

Well, to start with, Mom and I started working on my skirt. The fabric's a sheer, and so it had a tendency to fray if you look at it crosseyed. We spent a bit of time straightening the ends and then I sat down with a jar of fray-guard and a small paintbrush and went over all of the ends. We were going to finish it up yesterday, but we ran out of white thread.

And then we headed up to Sidney (Ohio Sidney, [livejournal.com profile] celtic_sky, not Australia Sidney) to spend the afternoon and evening with my aunt and uncle. This, of course, meant that we had an afternoon of even more insane than usual conversation, and it meant that Aunt Cindy had chance to go overboard on cooking. She's the type who loves to cook, and who automatically cooks food for twice the amount of people that are going to be there.

It also meant that I got to spend some quality time curled up next to my uncle. He and I have been bonded ever since I was a little girl who came up and hugged his knees as a greeting. He's also the one who is slowly introducing me to old-school Doctor Who, by lending me DVDs of episodes whenever I visit.

Our Fourth of July celebration was kind of different, this year. You see, my grandmother's birthday was the fourth, and this is the first time we've had it since her death. So of course, given the fact that it was our family, we had to stop and sing Happy Birthday to the ceiling before we had desert. Sane, my family isn't, but it was a good way to remember her without getting upset.

And of course, this gathering lasted from midafternoon to late in the evening, at which point we went to go see the fireworks. I'm not a huge fan of fireworks in general, but these were okay.

When the fireworks finally ended, we headed home, and I think we got in after 11:30. Okay, I know, it's not late to anyone other than me, but I'd shut down by that point.

I have something for you! Remember that thing I was pondering? Yeah? It lives!
