Heat + Me = Not a happy camper

Today was the first day the heat really broke on Dayton, or at least the first day where it hit me. I spent most of the day lying down on my bed in the coolest room of the house (my basement bedroom) and the heat still left me headachey and nauseous. Part of that might have been the fact that I fell asleep cuddling my cat and when I woke up I think I was slightly dehydrated.
And I still have a week more to deal with this?
But on the brighter side of life, the library had four books that I'd requested in for me, including C.S. Lewis' A Grief Observed, two Madeline L'Engle books, and the newest book in the 1632 series. Glee.
And on the way to the library, a butterfly flew around me in a circle, then landed on my hip and stayed there for a minute. I barely restrained myself from bursting into delighted laughter while the butterfly was resting on me, and the second it flew off I did laugh for the sheer joy of it all.

I gave my copy to Donald's mother a few days after the funeral, along with The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning, also highly recommended. It was a favorite among my college Bible Study and we all considered it a book to be given away.
The butterfly story reminds me, I myself haven't seen a butterfly in months, weird. But, then again, how many people get to see California Quail lead their newborn chicks through their own backyard. And, we have some birds nesting in the pillar near our front door. So, nature remains all around.
