mari4212Well that was interesting.
The power went out yesterday night. All over campus. That doesn't actually happen that much here, especially not on a campus-wide basis. And it stayed out for a long time, from 9:30 to midnight.
Naturally, the vast majority of the students on campus decided this was a good reason to hold a campus-wide party with flashlights.
For the first half an hour or so, I was annoyed. I had figured out that if we didn't get the power back on quickly, my alarm clock wouldn't go off in the morning, which meant that I'd have to rely on my body to naturally wake up an hour or so ahead of my eight o'clock class. That meant going to sleep early, not listening to my dorm mates party outside my bedroom.
After trying various things, including shoving a pillow over my ear to drown out the other noise, I gave up. I went out and joined some of the girls in the hall. I spent most of that time laughing at a few of the more insane girls who were dancing around a light pad. Of course, about twenty minutes after I joined in, the party in our part of the dorm fizzled, things got quieter, and I could get some sleep.
I felt it when the power came on, and managed to set my alarm clock to wake me up. I have no idea how many people are going to be late/miss Animal Behavior today, but my guess is more than a few.

Date: 2006-08-29 03:13 pm (UTC)yeah...to leave out the details that nothing was actually on fire makes it sounds more exciting than it was, but *shrug*. The RAs (and a few others that they asked to be guinea pigs...myself included) smelled what we thought were burning wires in the bathrooms. Gah.
