Eight degrees?

With a windchill that makes it feel like -4?

And they want us to go out in that? *is a wimp when it comes to temperatures in the single digits*

Can we pleas go back to UE the giant mud puddle?

Man that makes me cold just thinking about it! Brrr...

Haven't seen you around AIM in awhile, got any fanficcing done lately out of curiosity?

Not much, sadly. My mind hasn't been in much of a fanfic mood.

And yes, very cold.

*jaw drops*

Mark of how much I've acclimatised that I almost went, "8 degrees? That's warmish..."

I don't think I've even BEEN in temperatures that cold. *doesn't blame you for being sensible about temperatures in the single digits*

I've been in colder temps, but not for a while.

Translating it into Celsius, it comes to about -16 degrees, windchill making that even colder. *curls up in her room around a cup of tea*

At least you are in the tropics. When we woke up this morning, it was -4, with a -22 wind chill factor. All the schools are closed, so Mom has extra kids, Sara and Thomas at home all day

That's about what I woke up with this morning. They cancelled schools last night for my pair.

... And my car won't start. Stupid battery. *buries herself back under her blankets*

We're not much better than that right now, -2, wind chill -19. Of course, universities don't close for that sort of thing (especially around here), so it's off to class for me tonight.

*nods* same with us as well. Schools just announced tomorrow is kiboshed too. It was -12 at my brother's house this morning without factoring in the -20 to -30 windchill so ew. Tomorrow is supposed to be the same. We're hoping to see 30 degrees by the end of the week.

I just found out about another factor that explains school closings, besides the cold. This is "Count Week" in Ohio. State aid is apportioned not on the number of students enrolled, but on the average number of students actually attending during two weeks through the year. If the schools stayed open, but parents kept kids at home to keep them out of the cold, the schools would be penalized financially. If the school cancels due to weather, there is no financial penalty.

I am so glad I'm not home. I can just imagine how cold the basement floors would be first thing in the morning.

No offense, but it's about time other parts of the country got cold. Right now it's pushing 40, snow is actually melting, you know it's bad when it's 40 degrees, and stores have their doors open for fresh air. But yeah, 8F, know the feeling my dear, just do what I did in Russia, drink tea read books. Well, you do that anyways.

Rishi, if a random red-head knocks on your door asking for sanctuary, offer her tea. It might just be me running away from the cold.

During the day, it's sunny and 50-60ish. Mayhaps I should offer lemonade?

Rather, I would, except the Coldsnap WE had about 2 weeks ago killed about 75% of the citrus crop...
