Okay, it's warmer than it's been for several days, why am I shivering and miserably cold now? It does not compute.

In other news, today is both my brother's birthday and International Women's Day. My family? Celebrated neither. Well, okay, we wished Thomas a happy birthday, and he's already gotten his presents, but still. Our family never really remembers birthdays.

And I want to write something, so the first five commentors, give me drabble prompts. Available fandoms are Star Trek, Narnia, and Doctor Who. Because I'm going to be spending at least part of the weekend trying to do Harry Potter related things for Hogsmeade, and I don't want to burn myself out on HP before then.

*Yawns* And I'll get to them in the morning, I'm going to go read fluffy fanfic now and then fall asleep. Or maybe skip out on the fanfic entirely and just go to bed. I have a nice book downstairs, and I can bury myself under twenty tons of blankets if I do that.

Yeah, bed sounds really good.

Ten (David Tennant) at the end of the second Christmas special right after he lost contact with Rose and right before the other woman (in the wedding dress, so bad with names) showed up.

So that was it.

All that effort, that frantic planning, and it was still too short to say everything he wanted. A scant few minutes to see her, to prove to himself that she was alive, that she was still the fantastic woman he’d seen in her from day one. A brief moment to use those clumsy human words to tell her how much he’d cared for her.

He hadn’t. He’d just nattered on about nothing. And between one word and the next, it was done. He couldn’t go back, couldn’t drag this out further.

He’d have to move on.

A bit more than 100 words, but Picard, even as a kid, is talkative.

The night that had changed the rest of his life started out normally. Mamman had tucked him and his older brother into their beds, Robert complaining mightily about being forced to go to bed at the same time as his little brother. Mamman had laughed when he’d stuck his tongue out at Robert for that comment, and told them both to go to sleep.

He never knew what woke him up, nor what had compelled him to venture outside of the cozy house that night. But leave he did, and he wandered out into the vineyard beyond Mamman’s flower garden. Something above caught his eye, and looking up, he was seized by the dizzying wonder of the stars, swirled thickly above, rich and ancient and intoxicating. He laughed from the sheer wonder of it, and knew that someday, someday he would go up there. The stars were waiting for him.

I stink at prompts, but give your brother a belated happy b-day from me, how old is he now?
