First response on seeing season three of Doctor Who:

Martha is made of awesome, and even cooler than Rose was. And I'm saying this as a real Rose fan here. I love Martha like I loved Reinette. And I get to see multiple episodes of Martha! I only got one ep with Reinette.

So looking forward to the rest of this season. And I'm kind of glad I stayed away from most of the spoilers until now.

But really. Martha is so much love.

I am still grinning like a loon. I love Martha so much, and while I did like Rose, I love Martha not being at all like her. And the chemistry between her and the doctor is awesome. So happy.

i didn't know (forgot) that there are several people on my f-list who don't watch according to the u.k. schedule. i'll try and keep the spoiler-y icons away.

but yes, martha is a fantastic person. i was baffled when the doctor went up to her in the beginning and was like crazy!man doing his tie thing, but then when he went to prove the time jumping, it all made sense! probably my favorite part of the episode.

Don't worry too much about spoiling me. I'm not actively hiding from spoilers, and I do know a few of the big events of the end of the season, I just didn't go looking for the new episodes.

You know, I have only really seen the first season of Doctor Who--the one with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor when it ran on BBCAmerica--and I used to think I was really a Eccleston!Doctor fan. After watching all of the second season rerun on SciFi today (and the new stuff from this evening), I think I like Tennant!Doctor almost as well.

And I agree with you about Rose and Martha. I almost like Martha better than Rose, too. She's just... so much more interesting than Rose.

Eccleston is so much love. He is still my Doctor, much though I enjoy Tennant.

Rose had a lot of good points, and she was probably the best thing possible for Eccleston's Doctor, but I think Martha's going to be better for Tennant's Doctor . She'll challenge him on his actions more than Rose did.

Really, my favorite second season episodes were the ones with Sarah Jane and Reinette, because their dynamic with the Doctor was so interesting.

I like her, too, going on first impressions. I do hope, though, that they don't do a repeat of the romantic undertones, not because the Doctor can't love anyone but Rose, but because I just don't think we need that with every companion.

Martha really is pretty darn awesome. I wasn't sure if I'd like her or not but within five minutes, I knew.

Don't worry. I wasn't avoiding spoilers, I just wasn't actively seeking them out.

And yeah, I was trying to go in with an open mind, and then she just turned into awesomeness. I liked Rose, I love Martha already.

And I almost wrote I love Reinette. I still wish that she'd gotten to come along, I guess.
