Hogsmeade? So not happening for me this week. Sorry fellow 'puffs, but I spent yesterday running around like a lunatic and babysitting, and I'm still wiped from all of it. I couldn't write an essay right now if you paid me.

Said running around started with going out to pick my brother up from church camp at nine a.m. The camp's located about an hour away from our home, on a farm out in the middle of what is literally nowhere. We headed out on track to get there in time for the closing service.

Unfortunately, when we were about two-thirds of the way there and onto the country roads, we came across a road-closing. With no detour route marked. Err, yeah. Dad spent about fifteen minutes driving along a maze of unmarked country roads that barely deserved to be called roads. And after that tangle, we ended up right on the other side of the torn-up section of road, about five hundred feet or so from where we'd been blocked previously.

So yeah, we didn't end up making it there for the beginning of the service. We ended up coming in midway through, right before the gospel reading. And right in time to listen to my little brother give one of the two youth sermons. I'm rather proud of him, actually. It was a darn good sermon, with the sardonic humor I'm so used to from him being used to good effect.

The other good facet of going to get my brother was that I ran into a very good friend of mine who was also picking up her brother, and we got to have a chance to talk to each other for a while.

We took another way home, and got back in time for me to grab lunch and sit down for a few minutes before I headed out with [livejournal.com profile] lady_tigerfish for the afternoon. We'd decided to wander around and explore the Oregon District, which is a rather eccentric and eclectic area in Dayton.

It was a wonderful afternoon. We discovered a fantastic used bookstore that neither of us had been in before. We both agreed that in terms of being certain to have any book, we'd be better off going to one of the chain bookstores, but that this store had some fantastic books for a great price. I'm definitely going to go back a few times.

We also discovered a fantastic gelato shop there, which was as good as we'd heard it was. And we walked through a couple of the boutiques and clothes shops. Much of the stuff there was, well, interesting in the sense that it prompted several new inside jokes to form, but there were some gems.

And after the afternoon was over, I went babysitting for a two-year-old and an infant. Said infant is still young enough that she only wanted to catnap while she was in arms, and refused to sleep otherwise. Err, yeah. I love children, but there is a reason why my mother says that childcare is one of the most effective forms of birth control around. Their parents weren't home until one in the morning, so I didn't get to sleep until one thirtiesh.

I spent most of this afternoon catching up on sleep.

You're like the fourth Puff I've heard that's been too busy to do Hogsmeade. I was this weekend too, and not I'm just wiped and want to rest. The weather is not helping this at all.

I've also been buy trying to sell things, so yeah... -snugs- Get some rest!
