Friday drabble time
Jul. 27th, 2007 11:59 amOtherwise known as, Mari wants to keep to her wordcount goal for this week, but Sam's being stubborn on his story.
The first five people to give me a character and a word or phrase to use as a prompt will get a drabble.
Available fandoms: HP (tell me if you don't want spoilers for DH), Narnia, Firefly, SPN
There's also several people who have friended me recently. I'll try posting an intro to me post up soon, so that you know what you're getting into. And as always, I have an open friending and de-friending policy. If you ever find yourself getting bored with what I'm writing, go ahead and leave with no hard feelings.
Edit Mild spoilers for DH in the comments.

The first planet they went to, after the Captain had asked her to come and be Serenity’s mechanic, was one of the farming colonies. It was one of the lucky ones, the terraforming had took well on it and the land was fertile, great for growing things.
She almost felt like she wasn’t on an Outer Rim planet at all, everything was so sparkly and new-looking. Even the farms on the outskirts of town looked clean.
They finished the job quick, the Captain said, and he let her sneak down to the berry-picking festival as a treat. The fields went on forever, it looked, and the people were so nice. They sent her back to the ship sunburned, with a box full of strawberries to share with the rest of the crew.
She’d never had them before this, and to her strawberries would always taste like Serenity and flying free.

Even in the Wizarding world, with people who’d heard the stories about their fight with Voldemort, there were some raised brows. They were such an odd couple.
But whenever she looked at him, she saw the boy who’d risked everything for his friends, and the man who was wiser than he knew. And she fell in love again.

Date: 2007-07-27 10:02 pm (UTC)Before then, humans were an abstract idea, something strange and different that he didn’t have to think about. He hated collaborating with the Witch, but looking out for humans wasn’t that bad. They didn’t mean anything, they were a fairy-story told to the young.
Lucy Pevensie changed all that. She sat down to tea with him and he was enraptured. No one had told him that humans giggled at old stories, or brightened at the possibility of a song.
One teatime with Lucy, and his whole life changed.

No, judging from the height those flames had achieved before the antique fire suppressant system finally caught on, it definitely hadn’t been a good plan. Working to pay your way through flight school went a lot smoother when you didn’t try to burn down your job.
Wash sighed, and nodded along as his former boss continued to berate him. At least he’d saved the dinosaur models. And the T-rex was only a little singed. His eyebrows would grow back eventually.

Date: 2007-07-28 01:11 am (UTC)But then her fourth year came. And Harry and Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville had made her feel welcome, feel like a part of something. Something larger than her family. She’d mattered to them.
And when she’d come home for that summer, she’d asked her father for a set of paints and a brush, and started working.
