Okay, so how long have I been promising this one? Sorry to keep people waiting.
Okay, we'll start with the basics and go from there. So hi, my name is Mari (online at least), and I'm a twenty-one year old college student. I'm currently working on my bachelors, combining biology and religion. Yes I do know this shows that my sanity is non-existent, sorry if that comes as a shock to any of you. I'm also going to be going for my doctorate in Physical Therapy, so I won't be getting out of school anytime soon. I have a tendency to start squeeing about things I’ve learned from my various biology and religion classes on a regular basis during the school year. You’re in for a religion intensive couple of months, considering my coming class schedule.
Politically, I'm on the left/liberal side of things. By a long shot. Religion-wise, I'm Episcopalian, a denomination that falls under the "mainstream, high-church Protestant" grouping. I'm always willing to discuss either subject, and I do not expect or demand anyone on my flist to agree with me. They just have to be polite about it.
I'm a bookworm and a sci-fi/fantasy geek, and quite proud of being both. I'm a bit of a fandom butterfly, there's a few that I always return to, and a few that I bounce into for a month or so and then fall out for a year or so. How long I stay in the fandom seems to depend mostly on how much I love the source canon compared to how much I love the fandom. SPN looks good to stay a while, since I love the source canon as much as I love the fandom. (Star Wars, on the other hand, is a perfect example of me liking the fandom more than canon, and unfortunately I’m currently in my down-cycle part of it. Sorry Layren.)
I’m in both an online and an offline Harry Potter group, and in both of them I’m a Hufflepuff. That says a good deal about my personality, I think. I’m also an INFJ on Myers-Briggs tests, and the general description given for that type also fits me. In general, I’m optimistic and more than slightly silly, although I do have my pragmatist side.
I’m from a large and loving family, and both my parents do read this journal. Dad is actually on LJ himself, as
glacierscout. I’ve got two sisters and a brother. The oldest sister is engaged to a guy I thoroughly approve of, and we’re working on planning the wedding, so you’ll get random updates on that when I’m at home. My other sister is profoundly disabled, and she’s taught me a lot about life and about accepting people as what they are, rather than what you want them to be. And my little brother is heading off to college himself this year, you’ll probably hear me bragging a bit about him. *is a proud older sister* Mom runs a daycare in our house, and I help her out a lot while I’m in town. When you hear me talking about the kids, that’s what I’m referring to. And while I will refer to my siblings by their first names, I will never refer to any of the daycare kids by name or anything but the briefest descriptor. They can’t give consent to put their names up, and I won’t put them at risk even when I consider my journal a relatively safe space.
My journal entries tend to bounce between fandom-related things and my real life stuff. Feel free to skim over anything that doesn’t interest you.
