There are things I really miss about being at UE. For the most part, they're things to do with hanging out and geeking out with my friends. I loved it when we'd sit in the RoR for hours, sewing, working on random crafts, and watching Doctor Who into the wee hours of the morning. I miss the random conversations I'd get into with all of you down there. I even miss people randomly showing up at my room at odd hours of the day in need of tea, chocolate, and a hug. I'm really missing Yule Ball around now. (Please tell me my Hufflepuffs are making the spinach rolls for you guys.)

But on the other hand, there are some things that I'm so glad I'm back home for. There are certain Christmas family traditions that it has been too long since I've been involved in the process. A major one, of course, is my family's cookie-bake/estrogen fest. My mother, my aunt, my older sister and I all descend on the kitchen and spend several hours baking up batches upon batches of cream cheese press cookies. It gets rather insane, with getting the press to work correctly and getting the cookie dough at the proper consistency, and we make up for the cookies not cooperating at times by getting even sillier than normal. We sing our family versions of Christmas carols (Oh Kitty Cat instead of Oh Christmas Tree), we eat Panera Bread bagels that we refer to as Thee and Thee's cousins, and sometimes we end up waltzing around the room, counting the steps in various foreign languages.

I've missed it ever since I started college, just because we always do the cookie-bake the weekend of Advent 2, and we're never out from classes until the next week or so. And so I was very glad to be home for it. Even if I kidnapped my sister for the last half hour or so of baking to practice massage homework on her. I've never had so many people so eager to help me with my homework before.

And I end up mentioning this on a regular basis, but I'm so glad to be back at my home church again. And apparently people are glad to have me back as well. At least, I had two different people at church randomly tell me that I was a good person today.
