IBARW drabbles, how many weeks late am I?

mari4212I actually had all these written at least a week before I went back to school. I was just stalling because I wanted to see if I could actually come up with the Seven/Tuvok someone requested. But neither of them wanted to let me into their headspace long enough to write a drabble.

Admiration
Blaise hadn’t ever noticed her, before. Not that he’d had any reason too. She was one of Potter’s groupies, a year below them, and a member of a different house.
But this year everything was different. He still didn’t know where he stood on the Dark Lord, he never had. It just seemed easier just to go with the flow and keep out of the line of fire.
She wasn’t doing that. She’d thrown her lot in with Longbottom, with Potter’s rabid crew. It was an idiotic move, by anyone’s reckoning.
He didn’t know why he admired her so much.

Outsider
Sometimes he had to wonder if he’d always been on the outside looking in. He’d not noticed it before he’d gone to Hogwarts, but his family had never fit in in their neighborhood, even without him every so often turning all the cats around their flat weird colors.
Then the letter came, and all of a sudden he was different again, one of the Muggle-born without a clue wandering around the halls of Hogwarts and trying to cope with stairs that switched around and paintings that refused to stay still. And he’d really discovered what it meant to not belong.

Lonely
He hadn’t lied to Shepperd. He did miss home sometimes. He missed his grandma’s cooking every night. He missed how he’d been the oldest of his flock of cousins and they’d all followed him around and listened to what he said whenever they got together.
He missed his team and the friendships, and how he’d felt like the little brother in their group, picked on but accepted by all of them.
So yeah, sometimes he thinks of home. And then he reminds himself that he burned all his bridges a while ago, and there was no changing back from here.
And one Firefly, Zoe.
Survival
They call her a survivor. She ain’t never been sure that’s true. Seemed to her it was just that she’d never lost the things that mattered most to her.
She’d fought for independence, and she believed in it. But their cause had never consumed her like it had Mal. He’d been devastated by their loss. He’d been the survivor there, getting by after it all, finding Serenity and making it home. She’d just stuck by him.
But now? Now she’d lost it all in the death of Wash, and she had no concept of how she was to survive this.

Home
She didn’t rightly know when it was that Serenity stopped being a place to live and started being home. For so long it had just been Mal’s new obsession. And she’d stuck by him, because he needed her and she needed him.
But Serenity didn’t become home to her when they bought her, even if Mal fell in love the instant he saw her.
It just happened, one day. She stopped talking about getting back to the ship, and started talking about going home. No one was more surprised than her to hear the words coming out of her mouth.
Actually, Zoe took the day when it came to drabble requests, sinceelvisvf101 asked for a Zoe/Wash drabble.
Romance
She knew exactly when it had happened. When she’d started seeing him, instead of just another problem.
It had been his fifth week with them. He’d already proven his worth as a pilot, getting them out of a couple of tight spots. So she’d started getting used to having him around.
And then he’d snuck his silly little models up to the bridge. And she’d walked in on him playing with them with this endearingly boyish look on his face, like he hadn’t a care in the ‘Verse. He’d made her laugh then, and there weren’t many who did that.
lady_tigerfish finished off with another request a Firefly character, Sheppard Book.
Unanticipated
He hadn’t quite planned on it. On any of it really, from Kaylee’s innocent invitation onboard her ship onwards. Not the assault on the lawman, not getting involved with the boy’s quest to save his sister. Not being confronted over and over again with the violence and shrapnel left over from the war, which he’d fled to the abbey to escape from in the first place.
Not finding the closest thing he’d ever felt to family. Not having friends who made him grow past everything he’d expected to be. Not finding a home in the curved metal walls of Serenity.

Date: 2007-09-05 08:24 pm (UTC)I love Zoe and Wash too. Dinosaurs! And I like that Wash makes Zoe laugh and that's part of the reason why she falls in love with him.
And, oh Book. I miss this show. I wish we'd gotten more time with these characters.

(btw, really random, how familiar are you with Old Skool Who? If you know who Ian is, have a random factoid: William Russell, who played Ian, is the father of Alfie Enoch, who plays Dean in the HP movies.)

The family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA), a federal law, requires that we have a written release from the student. It can be in the form of authentication via the web, a transcript request form obtained from this office or by letter. All forms of request must have the electronic authentication or a signature to release the record. Requests may be sent to: Office of Registration & Student Records, Sinclair Community College, 444 West Third Street, Dayton, Ohio 45402-1460. Fax transcript requests to (937) 512-3456. Payment must accompany the transcript request. Transcript requests received without payment or signature cannot be honored.
The written request must include the following, or it will be returned to the student.
Full name, typed or printed, with all previous names listed
Signature (required by Federal law)
Social security number
Date of birth
Last year of attendance. If you currently are enrolled and you want pending grades and/or degree certification noted, you must request this and expect a delay. Otherwise, transcripts will be processed within 5 business days.

Doesn't Evansville already have the Sinclair grades when you transferred credits?
