Sep. 15th, 2007 10:25 pmWait, are you sure it's not December?
Because the costuming club today was packed. And we stayed busy from two in the afternoon till past nine tonight, working.
We never get this busy until the day before Yule Ball, when everyone realizes they don't have anything made for the dance yet.
Case in point, me. I made a sideless surcote today. All of it, from cutting the fabric to doing the final hem. In about three hours. It marks the first sewn clothing I've done completely on my own. Normally I ask my mother to do the machine sewing, because her sewing machine tends to not like me.
It's going over my muslin underdress, and I now have SCA garb that is period (ignoring the zipper in the underdress for now) and is worn without a bodice.
And after that, I was on call for everybody who was having problems with their patterns. Reading them, understanding what the heck they meant, what's a grain line and why do I even care, questions like those.
I was also on call for backrubs and fetching and carrying things, but I'm always on call for those.
All of which means, as soon as my laundry is done, I am going to sleep. I've been running in circles all day.

I had a blast today even though I spent way more money on fabric than I should have and my back hurts from bending over the fabric while pinning and cutting. I'm really sad that I wont be able to work on my dress or bodice for at least 2 weeks cause of the Rendezvous next weekend, and then the weekend after that, I wont even be in Eville. But SQUEE over my very own garb!
