Today? Was a very good day.

It's my last full day at home before I go back for my summer session classes, and Mom, Sara, and I stayed busy.

It started with me making stuffed french toast for all three of us as a special breakfast. Admittedly, the first one out was a little black on the sides, but I've been assured that all of them tasted fine, both verbally from Mom, and by action in the way that Sara ate all of it.

After that we went out shopping for flowers and vegetables for Mom's garden at the local gardening store, and ran into the rector emeritus of our church while we were there. He's such an amazing man, older than dirt but functioning better than many men thirty years younger than him. He was picking up some plants for his garden as well. So we had a lot of fun picking out plants and figuring out what we wanted in the gardens this year.

Then this afternoon we went to see Prince Caspian

EEEEeeeeeeeee!

Okay, the best two characters in this movie were Reepicheep and Edmund, both of whom were pretty much made of win throughout. Eddie Izzard was marvelous as Reepicheep, and perfectly captured his insane courage and his absurdity. And Edmund was perfectly played, with that hard-won wisdom from the previous book remembered.

Like The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, they did add a lot, in terms of shading of emotions between all the characters and adding in motivations. I found that most of the things they added in were things that fanfiction writers have traditionally dealt with in regards to Narnia stories, like the difficulties that the Pevensies faced with having to grow up twice. They restructured aspects as well, changing some of the timeline and rewriting an earlier battle, changing its location and involving the Pevensies in it. And yes, they did incorporate hints of a romance/mutual crush between Caspian and Susan, but they did it in a way that fit for the characters and the overall story.

So yeah, all in all, I liked it a lot.

THE CAT SCENE. When they're dealing with the gate. The LOOK on the cat's face when the guard looks down and sees it all trussed up. I laughed. A lot.

Kids and I went to see it today too. We had a blast.

I liked Prince Caspian. The more I think about it, the more I want to see it again.

Edmund is definitely my favorite character. I absolutely LOVE that he was the one to break the White Witch enchantment.

The Caspian/Susan thing was a little o_O (lol to Phyllis and Geeky Boy). I'm still unsure what to feel about it, but I guess it's a good way to pave the road to Susan's eventual worldliness, if they continue adapting the books to films.

I love the ending (well, minus Geeky Boy anyway). Just like how the book ends.

*grins* I just saw it too. I agree, Reepicheep and Edmund were the best.

And congratulations on making stuffed french toast!
