I'd forgotten how exhilarating it is to stand out on the front porch and just watch the thunderstorm blow through. We didn't exactly have much in the way of porches in the dorms, and I don't think we had a thunderstorm when I was back for my breaks this year.

So today was the first time in a long while for me to stand there and feel the wind blow, to watch the rain flowing in sheets down the streets, to listen to the thunder and see the lightning go past. It was fantastic.

Ever since the flood, I've had a sort of fear of rain. Every time I see the clouds coming and smell the rain (which used to be my favorite part of the storm - before the storm, when it smells like rain everywhere), I get a little nudge of fear in my mind.
