Things learned
Jul. 12th, 2008 04:13 pm1. If you don't have fray-check, or any way of getting fray-check in the time you need it, clear nail polish works about as well for stopping chiffon from fraying like no tomorrow.
2. A full bottle of clear nail polish will work for about 1.2 dress layers. After that, you really need to get another bottle to do the remaining seams and hem for the second layer.
3. A thunderstorm will start threatening at about the same time you thought it was getting cool enough to walk the two mile round trip to get the second bottle of nail polish. Further proving your belief that God had a very ironic sense of humor.
4. Stepping away from dressmaking minutia, Susan is by far the easiest character from Narnia for you to write, but she also takes the longest to get anything finished.
5. Susan is possibly so easy to write, and so easy to procrastinate on wanting to write more, because you see far too much of yourself in her, both good and bad. It's not the most comforting thought you've ever had about yourself.
And all of that came out far too easily in second person format.

Date: 2008-07-13 12:31 am (UTC)Really though, it's more of seeing specific traits of hers that I also see in myself, rather than the full picture of what those traits, plus her circumstances, led her to be. I'm hoping I get to keep my status as a friend of Narnia for a good while yet.
