It's over.

Blackie woke me up around quarter after 12 this morning, his body twitching spasmodically. I held him until I couldn't feel him breathing or his heart beating, at around one this morning. He wasn't alone, and he knew he was loved. At this point, that was all I was hoping for.

'Goodbye, said the fox. "Here is my secret. It's quite simple: One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes.... People have forgotten this truth," the fox said. *hugs* I'm sorry sweets, I know it's as tough losing a pet as losing a best friend or a family member, but I'm sure Blackie is glad you were there for him at the end of things just as much as you were there for him throughout his whole life. He's in a better place now, with no pain and no troubles, and he's watching over you glad to know he was loved, I'm certain.

We just lost our dog to a tumor, I wish I could have been there for her. I'm sure Blackie was glad to have had you with him then. And I'm sure he'll be watching you for a long time to come from his comfy, sunny window seat where he is now.

Blackie was a wonderful kitty, and you are a wonderful owner. I know his life was better for you being in it, just as he brought his little cat light into yours. I'm glad you could hold him in his last moments, as sorry as I am for your loss.
