Point of bragging here:

Six months ago, when my regular baby-sittees had me come over to do some one-on-one babysitting of their youngest, who was about 7 months old at the time, she pulled a standard baby response and cried like no tomorrow at the thought of being left alone with me.

The situation has drastically improved as she's gotten used to me coming over. But the real turning point is when I ran into the family at the library today, and the she went straight to me to get a hug, then demanded to stay with me while they were checking out their books.

Babies. I get on with them well.

(Insert appropriate conversation segue here)

Yesterday was my family's St. Patrick's Day celebration. Dad cooked everything but the soda bread (Mom) and the dessert (Aunt Cindy). It was a lovely dinner, we had my brother back from college for Spring Break, my sister and brother-in-law over, and my aunt, uncle, cousin, and my cousin's girlfriend as well. Aside from finding out that while we had enough in the way of plates and silverwear for everyone, we lacked that 11th chair to seat everyone, things went wonderfully. (It helps that everyone in the family is insane. Makes getting along and finding topics of conversation much easier.)

And have I mentioned how much I enjoy having my brother back? We were geeking out over anatomy last night. I've really missed having that level of conversation with a peer on a regular basis. I got it when I was in college, but it's not that common at home. Mom and Dad are great, but they're not exactly peers, so even when I do get into discussions with them, it's not on the same footing.
