Dad definitely earned his good Daddy points this past week.

I've mentioned a few times before that one of my favorite musicians is Carrie Newcomer (http://www.carrienewcomer.com/). Go ahead and click on the website and glee in the pretty Quaker influenced folk music, I'll still be here when you're done.

So, this past Monday, Dad was listening to NPR at the office, and he heard a reference to a Carrie Newcomer concert being held on Saturday. And not only did he recognize the artist's name as one of the ones I've babblesqueed about, he called up Mom and told her about it. Mom made a call in to the church hosting the concert, told them that we'd all like to go, but that she wasn't sure if we were going to be able to take Sara along, what with the tube feedings and her not being on a very regular schedule. The church hosts were amazing about making concessions for us, setting up something for Mom if she needed to feed Sara during the middle of the concert, and agreeing to cancel out the tickets we were having them hold for us if we couldn't take Sara. And of course, since we made all those arrangements, Sara's tube feedings went off fine at home, and she was feeling good enough to take her out.

The concert was fantastic, btw. It was a relatively small venue, so Carrie was able to talk to everyone after the music. Onstage and off, she comes across as as kind and thoughtful as her music is, and she was also rather funny. (Admittedly, you had to understand at least a bit about Quakerism and the Midwest to get most of the jokes, but considering her audience, that wasn't a stretch.)

Among other things, she talked about how easily distracted she could be, and pulled in Dug from Up as an example. That turned into an intro for two of her songs, "I Meant to do my Work Today" ('nuf said), and "A Crash of Rhinoceros".

Sara absolutely loved it. She bounced between staring up at the stage with an enraptured look on her face and smiling at Mom, Dad, and I. Way too much fun.
