Oct. 18th, 2010 12:29 pmThe library was having its annual book sale this past weekend, and we were planning on going together to it yesterday. After getting lost twice, and realizing that even if we found it in the next attempt, we'd be getting there an hour and a half into the two hours it was open for Sunday, we called it quits and went out to half-price books instead. Not quite as much fun as all the books you can haul away for a buck, but still, cheap books!
I found a Christmas present for my brother (Da Vinci's Notebooks), a copy of Changes, the new Dresden files book by Jim Butcher, and a copy of Little Women that wasn't my mother's childhood copy, and thus falling apart if you looked at it cross-wise.
And then she kidnapped me over to Yellow Springs, because the guys were starting (had already started, actually) a new RP game. My second RP character, and she's definitely not a carbon copy of my first character, or of myself. I basically asked the GM if there were any holes that needed to be filled for the party, and started figuring out her personality half-way through the statting process. I'm a fighter this time, and rather cheerful about it all, even the possibility of death, if I achieve some interesting deeds and get a song written about me.
I do love how this RP group is so much about the collaborative story-telling and character development. It means that we dissolve into fun in-character conversations when the GM is working another character through their individual scene, and only tune in halfway through when we realize that the other character just got seduced by a vampire. It's kind of awesome.
This does mean I now have something to do on Sunday nights again.
