Jul. 10th, 2011 12:47 amI should be tired.
Actually, given today, I should be exhausted.
One, although this was a pleasant task, I finished up a baby blanket for
cacophonesque. One down, one to go, I'll need to pick up the yarn to make my friend from church's baby blanket after I get back from Florida.
The next wasn't too bad, but I spent the morning helping my mother empty out and sort everything that was in our garage. Largely, the piles were 'keep', 'keep part two', 'sort for Goodwill donations,' and 'bulk waste'. We didn't have too many really heavy things out there, but there's always a lot of bulky and awkward things to maneuver, and since Mom tore a meniscus in her knee, I really didn't want her moving most of it, just to avoid overtaxing and stressing the knee.
I had been planning on curling up in a ball and not moving for most of the rest of the day, given that we've hit the monthly reminder that my uterus hates me, but that ended up not happening. Instead, the pipe that drains the kitchen sink and the basement backed up, and when the washing machine tried to drain the rinse water, we ended up with a flood in the basement. Luckily, at least, it was in the half of the basement that did not include my bedroom. Still, I had about an hour, hour and a half spent ferrying buckets of laundry water up a flight of stairs and out of the house.
My oldest sister came over in the late afternoon and started the work to drain out the trap of all the detritus clogging up the pipes. Started, I say, because it's a pretty major clog and she only got it half-done today, even with working on it for a few hours.
Between those, and a few cases of everyone dropping everything and picking up minor injuries from a lot of those drops, like my brother cutting his foot on a sliver of wine glass, or my mother burning her thumb on a burner, it's been one of those days.
And of course, even with it being one of those physically exhausting days, my brain won't shut down enough to sleep. It won't stay active enough for me to continue work on my rant/guest blog for
lady_tigerfish's 30 Days of Gay, but it won't let me go to sleep either.
