What's going on with me.
Sep. 6th, 2011 09:32 pmI've been quiet for a bit, because there's something going on that I'm afraid to jinx.
I've been applying at Americorps positions since this summer, when the cruise-line spa interview failed. On Thursday, about an hour after I'd submitted an application, I got a call back from the Mentoring Collaborative in my county. Friday, I went in for an initial interview, and they loved me. Like, hugging me at the end, I could see the tens they were scoring me with on their notes loved me. Enough to invite me in to do the training this week, while they tried to get the second interview with one of the host sites that had a last minute hole open up.
Today was day one of training, and I think I'll love this space, as long as I get the position, because it's mentoring, and it's working with kids and it's trying to keep them in schools. Pretty much, I get paid to help people want to learn. Which is, you know, utterly awesome for me.
The only thing is, even though the regional coordinator loves me, she hasn't been able to get the host site people to set up an interview with me, mostly due to the time crunch. Which means there's still a chance that I'm going to get my hopes up about this and have it not work out. I'm crossing fingers and praying, though. This would be a spectacular year long program for me to do.
So, no cheers for me yet, because it's not certain, but any prayers or good wishes would be appreciated.
Newbies to my flist, I swear one of these days I'll get an intro up. At least, I'll have to explain who everyone in the family is, because I talk about them a lot, and it sometimes can get confusing if you don't know who is who.
