Like I mentioned in my last post, I was in training last week for a potential Americorps position. I interviewed at the host site on Thursday evening, haven't heard back yet from them, but they were going to contact the program manager first, and she was going to get into contact with me from there. Considering we were out most of Friday on a volunteer project, and then we hit the weekend, yeah. Things are still up in the air. On the plus side, even if I don't get this position, I have a lot of extra training in building mentoring programs. And another course of child sex abuse prevention training. Which I took on Thursday, right before my interview, ugh. Going through that training destroys me emotionally for the rest of the day. I get why it's necessary, but the timing was not the best.
Friday, because I'm doing the Americorps thing, I participated in the day of service for 9/11. We worked at the Life Enrichment Center, mostly clearing out and reorganizing a warehouse and a half full of stuff. My arms are finally forgiving me for that.
Saturday, we had a harp concert at my church. 59th Street Bridge Song? Totally awesome as a harp piece. Really.
And today, Mom, Elizabeth, and I decided to have a girl's day mall-wander. Can I say how thrilled I am that there are flat boots available this year? I like my current boots, and I was complimented on them about six times today, but I don't like to wear heels every day. Or even most days. But I like wearing boots in fall/winter. Flat boots are a godsend, and I have not seen them readily available until this year, when suddenly they're all over! So budgeting a pair in this fall. Along with a BPAL order that is calling my name. I think those'll be my "I got the position!" splurges if this Americorps thing works out.
