Cinderella: casting
Oct. 1st, 2011 11:02 pmOkay, I've cast my foreign princess for the Cinderella story. Add her to my picks for Cinderella and the noblewoman, and I really might have to do this one for Nano.
So, princess from the next kingdom over, along the Eastern Road: Amara Karan. Played Peaches in St. Trinians, and Rita on Doctor Who. (I'm thinking this kingdom is situated sort of in an Italy-ish position, along two major trade routes.

Cinderella, and this one is the image that popped into my head and refused to leave, possibly because I see my Cinderella's base personality as similar to how she plays Gwen, Angel Coulby. Cinderella's father's family came up from the southern trade route about 3-4 generations ago, and it was pretty much a lateral move from one kingdom's minor nobility into a new one. Her mother was also from the Southern kingdom, married into Gwen's father's family pretty much to seal a negotiation between the two houses who both dealt a great deal with the cloth trade. It became a love match in time.

And as soon as I had Angel, I knew who the noblewoman needed to be. If only because it works so well with playing with character dynamics and the Merlin season 1/2 dynamic. Katie McGrath, of course.

I still need to cast my prince, the stepmother, at least one step-sister, and the adviser and king/queen. And yes, lots of plotting work still to do, but at least I know have bits figured out.
