Lesbian Cinderella a go.
Oct. 11th, 2011 09:44 pmSo, I know have the main plot arc figured out for doing the Cinderella re-write, at least the first 3/4ths of it.
Now I need to actually finish casting my characters, and, you know, figuring out their actual characters.
...Though, at this point, given my main couple, I think some part of me wanted to write Gwen/Morgana without dealing with the utter mess that is Merlin canon between their characters now.
So, help me with fantasy casting.
For my main antagonists, I have my Cinderella's Stepmother, who needs to be in her late forties/early fifties I think. I'm halfway tempted to go with Bernadette Peters, just because she was so awesome at it in Rogers and Hammerstein's version. But mostly with her, I need someone who can be utterly cold. This is an emotionally abusive woman who does not see other people as human at all. She can fake it well enough in social settings, but she does not handle it when you cross her.
Then there's the king's advisor. Slightly older, mid-fifties I'd say. He's more the well-intentioned extremist, in that he honestly believes that they should be at war with the other country. But his methods, well, yeah. Is it too much typecasting for me to stick Tony Head in as this character, given how many other characters I'm casting with actors from Merlin?
Others I need to cast:
The Prince. In many respects, he is classical good prince from fairy tales. Kind, honorable, noble, fair-minded. He's a bit awkward around people he doesn't know well, and he's not especially fond of the other kingdom, but at the outset, he'd prefer a cool peace to war. A very rational, thoughtful man. Mid-twenties.
Stepsister. Minor role, just needs to be there as a tertiary kind of character. The one the stepmother wanted to see marry the prince.
King and Queen. Exist. I haven't figure them out as much.
