But if you have any background knowledge of Star Trek at all, high thee to a used bookstore and search for The Wounded Sky by Diane Duane. It is, hands down, the best theology I've seen come out of a science fiction novel. Plus, it has the best gorgeous alien scientist I've seen in Trek.
Seriously, the end of the book is transfiguration/transcendence in the most brilliant and beautiful language I've seen. McCoy, blazing so brilliantly that Kirk almost couldn't bear to look at him, blazing with compassion brighter than a sun.
