mari4212I have internet again! My own internet, paid for by me so I get to set it up and as long as I keep paying, it exists. Right now it's looking like it'll be a little under a buck a day. (200 pesos for five days, 43.5 pesos~1 USD)

I am also in my new place. The way it works is that I have a private bedroom/bathroom suite, and a living room area that I would share with anyone else who stays in the other hostel rooms. As that is currently no one, that space is also mine to use. I also have a kitchenette set up in a room below mine, which also happens to be the laundry room for the hospitality department. Currently I have a stove with a gas tank and a microwave, the refrigerator arrives next week.
One thing that I am currently missing from home in America: bathtubs and hot showers with good water pressure. The church center in Manilla had no hot water option at all, the inn at the cathedral had a box that alternately heated the water too hot to stand and ice-cold, so I mainly filled a bucket with it and did the bucket-bath dance, and this room has very low water pressure if you want the water above luke-warm.
Aside from the hot water issues, I'm still loving the Philippines. The teachers at the high school have all been wonderful. The students are still mostly in the figuring out who I am and how I'm going to act stage. I give it a week or two before the fourth-year students try pushing my limits, and another week for the lower years.
