mari4212Okay guys, can we get through October before we start playing cheesy pop Christmas songs?
Yeah, no. Not in the Philippines! The teachers were warning me that Christmas starts early here, but this makes even American stores look reserved.
What else is new with me? I've been putting a lot of the more work-appropriate posts on the official blog, which if you want to follow that as well and see what I say when I'm not having instant responses/actually plan out my entry you can find it here: serviceandstories.blogspot.com
Planning is going forward for the college course. I have twelve class sessions available, each three hours long. I've got the general flow of the course figured out, and am currently working on putting together a source or two for each class. I'm mostly going for free online sources, both to save me some money and to save the students I'll have. I lucked out and found a good long interview with John Haught, the author of God After Darwin, which gives me an excellent perspective on the concept of faith and science being in dialogue with one another to find the same underlying truth about the universe. That, plus Templeton Prize winners having video interviews about questions of science and theology, has been a godsend. It definitely made up for having to wade through Dawkins and Young-Earth Creationists to show the antagonistic/oppositional viewpoints.
And in crafting news, I am two-thirds of the way through binding off the shawl I'm making for Elizabeth for Christmas. *glees* And I have enough leftover yarn I think to make one of the teachers who has been there for me the most a scarf for her Christmas present.
