mari4212Well, we figured out what was wrong: the hard drive is dead.
Cue me spending yesterday evening at the mall buying a new hard drive, and one of the computer teachers spending part of today working to install the new one. Either today or tomorrow we should get enough of the software back so that I can actually use it again. And most of the data is probably lost. Le Sigh. This weekend and next will probably be a lot of work retyping my work for the college class.
I am now very grateful that I uploaded my Yuletide assignment so early, as at least that is done. The one treat I was working on wasn't typed up yet, so I still have it ready to transcribe.
(Mom and Dad, if Thomas wants to give me a present, suggest new copies of the movies he put on my computer the first time around? Or have him e-mail me a link to where he got them?)
On the bright side, a new hard drive cost me approximately 67 USD here in the Philippines. It's probably a lot more in the US. Also, I took advantage of being at the mall and went to see Thor. So, you know, not a total waste of the afternoon/evening.
